Latest news: CCDC Dance Centre has reloated to Tai Po
CCDC has worked hard throughout this year to secure a new site for the CCDC Dance Centre after its premises in Wong Tai Sin, which has hosted the Centre for 40 years, faced closure due to reconstruction work.
Today, we are delighted to announce some great news! CCDC has moved its Dance Centre to Tai Po Arts Centre. The Company’s full-time dancers will rehearse and hold activities in the studios during the day.
During the relocation period, the current Dance Centre located in Wong Tai Sin will continue to offer a variety of dance courses until October 2021. Our office, wardrobe and technical department, which had earlier been relocated from San Po Kong to an industrial building unit in Tsuen Wan, are now officially open and ready to bring wonderful performances to you, our audience.
Help CCDC continue nurturing new talents
We are seeking funds for the imminent relocation of the CCDC Dance Centre.
Since CCDC was founded, it has grown to become one of Hong Kong’s centres of arts and culture.
Over the past decades, the Company has been housed rent-free in a 20,000sq ft space at the Dance Centre located in a 50-year-old building in Wong Tai Sin. However, due to its run down condition, the Centre, together with CCDC’s offices at San Po Kong may need to be vacated this year.
If we are not able to obtain new premises, local dance artists will lose an important rehearsal space, and more than 12,000 students annually may lose their opportunity to pursue dance. The repercussions of losing the Dance Centre will be very negative.
Therefore, the Company is now eagerly seeking a feasible transition plan; meanwhile, your generous contributions absolutely will bring benefits in helping the relocation, finding temporary premises or renting the current premises.
Your support is crucial to maintain space for dance, creativity and of course, for the cultural development of Hong Kong.
CCDC belongs to the Hong Kong Government’s Art Development Matching Grants Scheme, where every dollar is matched by $1!
Donors able to gift HKD5,000 or more will be commemorated with a nameplate at CCDC Dance Centre.
Donations of HK$100 or above are tax-deductible.
