In 2002, he was selected by the \u2018Rolex Mentor and Prote\u0301ge\u0301 Arts Initiative\u2019 to study choreography under William Forsythe in Germany. During his time in Germany, he joined the Ballet Frankfurt and Forsythe Company as Assistant Choreographer and Dancer, respectively. He returned to China in 2006 and has since choreographed for CCDC, BeijingDance\/LDTX and Guangdong Modern Dance Company. He has also been commissioned by renowned dance companies around the world, including Ballet Frankfurt (Germany), Spellbound Contemporary Ballet (Italy), Carte Blanche (Norway) and G\u00f6teborgsOperans Danskompani (Sweden). He was appointed as the Resident Choreographer for CCDC from 2015 to 2024. In 2023, he was awarded the Honorary Fellowship by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2024, he was presented with \u2018Distinguished Achievement Awards\u2019 by the 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Hong Kong Dance Awards and \u2018Artist of the Year (Dance)\u2019 by the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Hong Kong Arts Development Awards.<\/p>\n<p>His recent choreographies with CCDC include\u00a0<em>Mr Blank<\/em>\u00a0(2018),\u00a0<em>Re-mark<\/em>\u00a0(world premiere in 2018; Hong Kong premiere in 2019),\u00a0<em>Pa | Ethos<\/em>\u00a0(world premiere in 2015; Hong Kong premiere in 2022),\u00a0<em>Meeting In-between Time<\/em>\u00a0(2022),\u00a0<em>Stream of Dust<\/em>\u00a0(2023) and\u00a0<em>As if Snowing<\/em>\u00a0(2024).<\/p>\n<p>Other cross-disciplinary creations and choreographic works include the dance video\u00a0<em>There is a Place<\/em>, co-commissioned by CCDC and Dance Glasgow (the UK); a collaborative work with Goat Media (Scottland), musician\/composer Dickson Dee and a local company of emerging and innovative technology LazyAnt, together they created an interactive installation between dance and technology \u2013\u00a0<em>Hyperchoreography<\/em>;\u00a0<em>Mr Blank<\/em>\u00a0video and sound installation at \u2018On the Road 2023\u2019, Guan Shanyue Art Museum (Shenzhen).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Associate Artistic Director&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;Associate-Artistic-Director&#8221;][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;47125&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;47122&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><b><span style=\"color: #8e9d6e;\">Dominic WONG<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Associate Artistic Director<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dominic Wong was a TV artist for Asia Television Company from 1990 to 1992. He studied modern dance in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He joined CCDC after his graduation i<span lang=\"EN\">n 1996 and was promoted as Associate Artistic Director in 2016. He received 2001 and<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a02013 Hong Kong Dance Awards \u201cOutstanding Performance by a Male Dancer\u201d for his performance in<i>\u00a0Plaza X<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>The<\/i>\u00a0<i>Comedy of K\u00a0<\/i>respectively.<\/span>\u00a0He is one of the founding member of the Zero Zero Ensemble. Wong\u2019s choreographic work\u00a0<em>Men\u2019s Chop Suey<\/em>\u00a0(<em>All of A Sudden<\/em>, 2003) was invited to rerun in the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0Guangdong Modern Dance Festival. He also choreographed widely for other dance companies including Zero Zero Ensemble, BiLiBaLa Physical Theatre and E-Side Modern Dance Company. She joined City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) in 2010, was promoted to Senior Dance Artist in 2022, and became Rehearsal Director in 2023. Over the years, she has collaborated with renowned choreographers including Sang Jijia, XING Liang, Helen LAI, and Yuri NG, and has performed extensively in both local and international productions.<\/p>\n<p>Lok is interested in the relationship between the body, experience, perception, and memory in dance creation. Drawing from her background in cultural studies, she integrates observation and reflection into her choreographic practice, using movement to respond to everyday experiences and emotional states, and exploring how dance can serve as a mode of thinking and expression.<\/p>\n<p>Her choreographic works include <em>Imprisoned<\/em> (2014), <em>Journey to the West<\/em> (2016), <em>Human Research Lab<\/em> (2019), <em>Rebug: Re-Gene<\/em> (2022), and<em> Sliding into Heart<\/em> (2024).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Artist in Residence&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;Artist-in-Residence&#8221;][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;47258&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; link=&#8221;http:\/\/www.ccdc.com.hk\/en\/dancers\/qiao-yang\/&#8221;][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;47255&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><b><span style=\"color: #8e9d6e;\">QIAO Yang<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Artist in Residence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qiao Yang, Artist in Residence of CCDC, joined the company for 29 years and debuted her full-length solo performance Almost 55 in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born in Shaanxi, Qiao started learning Chinese dance at the age of 12. She received the Gold Award in the Modern Dance Duet Class at the Paris International Dance Competition in 1990 and became a founding member of Guangdong Modern Dance Company in 1992, where she performed extensively in major international arts festivals in Hong Kong, France, India, Singapore, the US, etc. She joined CCDC in 1996, received the Hong Kong Dance Award in 2003 for her outstanding performance in The Tragedy of Mr O, and was listed in the \u2018Hong Kong Dance Hall of Fame\u2019. Qiao received \u2018Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer\u2019 at the Hong Kong Dance Awards in 2011 for her performance in Tales of Two Cities \u2013 Hong Kong, Shanghai, Eileen Chang, and received a nomination for the same prize at the Hong Kong Dance Awards in 2016 for Soledad. Qiao was awarded \u2019Artist of the Year<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Dance)\u2019 at the 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards in 2020 and \u2018Secretary for Home Affairs Commendation Scheme (Arts and Culture)\u2019 in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almost 55 received great acclaim after its premiere. Qiao was awarded the \u2018Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer\u2019 at the Hong Kong Dance Awards in 2020 and launched a world tour to Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Xi\u2019an and Singapore.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Dancers&#8221; In 2002, he was selected by the \u2018Rolex Mentor and Prote\u0301ge\u0301 Arts Initiative\u2019 to study choreography under William Forsythe in Germany. During his time in Germany, he joined the Ballet Frankfurt and Forsythe Company as Assistant Choreographer and Dancer, respectively. He returned to China in 2006 and has since choreographed for CCDC, BeijingDance\/LDTX and Guangdong Modern Dance Company. He has also been commissioned by renowned dance companies around the world, including Ballet Frankfurt (Germany), Spellbound Contemporary Ballet (Italy), Carte Blanche (Norway) and G\u00f6teborgsOperans Danskompani (Sweden). He was appointed as the Resident Choreographer for CCDC from 2015 to 2024. In 2023, he was awarded the Honorary Fellowship by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2024, he was presented with \u2018Distinguished Achievement Awards\u2019 by the 25th\u00a0Hong Kong Dance Awards and \u2018Artist of the Year (Dance)\u2019 by the 18th\u00a0Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. His recent choreographies with CCDC include\u00a0Mr Blank\u00a0(2018),\u00a0Re-mark\u00a0(world premiere in 2018; Hong Kong premiere in 2019),\u00a0Pa | Ethos\u00a0(world premiere in 2015; Hong Kong premiere in 2022),\u00a0Meeting In-between Time\u00a0(2022),\u00a0Stream of Dust\u00a0(2023) and\u00a0As if Snowing\u00a0(2024).
