\nRetrospect and Prospects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

(6 October 2021, Hong Kong) Located at 110 Shatin Pass Road, Wong Tai Sin, the CCDC Dance Centre has become an important landmark and the collective memory of Hong Kong\u2019s dance industry since its establishment in 1979. With CCDC Dance Centre\u2019s imminent move to Tai Po Arts Centre, the Company is delighted to announce the Centre\u2019s final production at its Wong Tai Sin location Dancing Never Stops<\/em> from 12 to 17 October 2021, marking a new era for, and a celebration of, CCDC Dance Centre (Wong Tai Sin) .<\/span><\/p>\n

CCDC Dance Centre (Wong Tai Sin) was the original site of Baptist Rainbow Secondary and Primary School and Kindergarten. Looking back over the past 42 years, thousands of students embarked on their dance journey here. It has also been a nurturing ground and training and creative hub for professional dance artists. The Centre in Wong Tai Sin has witnessed the development and changing landscape of the local dance scene, and offered a platform for artists to connect and create. CCDC Dance Centre will remain dedicated to carrying on its mission in Tai Po, promoting dance to communities, developing dance education and broadening the audience base.<\/span><\/p>\n

CCDC Dance Centre (Wong Tai Sin)\u2019s last production, Dancing Never Stops <\/em>consists of a line up of extraordinary activities. To express our gratitude to audiences, the Centre\u2019s teachers, students and staff will present performances and site-specific performance<\/strong> at the Centre. The exhibition<\/strong> commemorates the Centre\u2019s milestones in Wong Tai Sin, sharing the history, highlighting some classic moments and photographs taken by the late dance photographer and former Assistant Artistic Director of the Company \u2013 Mr. Ringo Chan. CCDC Dance Centre is well-known for the great variety of its dance courses and quality of its trainings. Eight different sessions of complimentary dance workshops<\/strong> will also be provided, which are suitable for adults, students and children. There is a limited quota and advance registration is required.<\/span><\/p>\n

CCDC Dance Centre is also partnering with International Association of Theatre Critics (HK) to organise two public seminars<\/strong> on Facebook LIVE on 12 and 13 October 2021 under the theme: \u201cDancing in a Cosmopolitan City: Retrospect and Prospects of CCDC Dance Centre\u201d. Guest speakers and moderators include: Prof. Anna CY Chan (Dean, School of Dance, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts), Wayson Poon and Alice Ma (Choreographers), Eno Yim (Director, School of Everyday Life), William Chan and Joanna Lee (Art Critics), Rick Lam (Co-founder and Director, Architecture Commons) and Melissa Leung (Company Dramaturg, CCDC).<\/span><\/p>\n

Standing tall in Wong Tai Sin for over four decades, CCDC Dance Centre has developed a time-honoured reputation and the site was the first ithat a vacant school was converted to a dance centre in Hong Kong. Generations of dance lovers have studied and connected with each other here, gradually shaping a \u201cmade in Hong Kong\u201d culture and enhancing the international image of dance in Hong Kong. Although the current site will be redeveloped in the future, it will forever carry the dance stories and memories of us and Hong Kong.<\/span><\/p>\n

CCDC Dance Centre believes that dance is a flowing landscape that flourishes along with the journey. CCDC Dance Centre will stand firm to its core values and continue to thrive at Tai Po Arts Centre.
