Dance Well Classes

Set your mind and body free in dance

Dance Well is an artistic practice where participants are empowered to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and creative. Classes also incorporate rehabilitation concepts such as aerobic exercise, movement imagery, cueing techniques, proprioception, and sensory-motor training. Participants dance in an artistically inspiring and inclusive environment—a refreshing departure from traditional occupational therapy settings like gyms or medical rooms.

Mindfulness Yoga x Meditative Butoh x Soundbath Resonance

Butoh is not necessarily dark, and yoga is more than the pursuit of physical difficulty. Originating from ancient India and post-war Japan respectively, yoga and butoh are subtly connected through an underlying body philosophy rooted in Eastern thought. Similar to butoh’s focus on internal energy cultivation, participants will be introduced—through short demonstrations—to simple yogic breathing techniques (pranayama), sound resonance practices, focused meditation, and gentle stretching or twisting of specific muscles, joints, and fascia.

As these practices unfold, the senses, the organs, the emotional currents, and the eight limbs of yoga respond to the seven chakras that govern the body from head to sole—inviting release, relief, and decompression, or activation, cleansing, and rebalancing. The journey—whether faced individually or explored through interaction—will conclude with a gong/singing bowl sound bath and light chanting in Sanskrit or group harmony.
