CCDC Unveils Brand-New ‘Laap3 Laap3 Ling3’ Series with Like Summer Flowers Public Ticketing Now Open: 13 Company Dancers Transcend Boundaries, Co-Authoring 10 Original Contemporary Works

(HONG KONG – JUNE 26, 2026) Guided by the overarching seasonal theme “Sensory Matrix”, City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) is proud to announce that tickets for the premiere of Like Summer Flowers are officially on sale via art-mate, URBTIX, and Damai. Running from 31st July to 2nd August 2026 at the Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre. This production marks the inaugural showcase of CCDC’s brand-new ‘Laap3 Laap3 Ling3’ series—a bold curatorial initiative that hands the choreographic reins entirely over to the professional dancers.

The Cantonese title ‘Laap3 Laap3 Ling3’ (熠熠炅) evokes a sensory duality: the shimmering, transient brilliance of light juxtaposed with the fierce, crackling heat of an open flame. Against the backdrop of an era surging with such passionate vitality, this newly curated series trains its lens sharply on a fearless younger generation. This production is far more than a mere showcase of virtuosity; it is their bold manifesto to the world, a raw and unvarnished exposure of human emotion. Featuring a total of ten original works, the dancers confront the complexities of the contemporary condition. The body becomes an archive of memories, urban anxieties, and existential reveries—blooming with the untamed, fleeting intensity of summer flora.

Cultivating the Future Paradigm of Contemporary Dance
“With each turning season, the stage transforms anew” reflects CCDC Artistic Director Sang Jijia. ‘Laap3 Laap3 Ling3’ was conceived not merely as a platform for expression, but as a laboratory for the future of contemporary dance in Hong Kong. These ten works represent CCDC dancers at their most vulnerable and vital—breaking through the soil after a long period of quiet incubation. Just as the summer sun bakes the earth, the stage lights will illuminate their raw artistry. We invite the public to witness this collective awakening.”

Dancers as Choreographers: 10 Works Unleashing the Somatic Force of a New Generation
The 13 dancer-choreographers bring a staggering diversity of thematic inquiries to the stage, ranging from the roots of cultural identity to the ephemeral boundary between dream states and waking reality.

The ten works are distributed across two independent programmes, performed alternately across four sessions, post-performance meet-the-artist session will be held after both evening performances on 31st July and 1st August, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the choreographers’ creative trials and triumphs.
