Season Programme

A Triple Bill

A brand-new series ‘The Connected Stage’ launches with A Triple Bill, bringing together three choreographers whose practices traverse cultures and geographies. Through three distinctive works, the programme offers a vibrant glimpse into the diverse expressions of contemporary dance.

William Forsythe’s iconic work N.N.N.N. unfolds like a string quartet for the body—performed by four emerging male dancers from CCDC, it lets us hear movement and see music. In The Fountain of Blood, Hung Tsai-hsi draws inspiration from poetry and her choreographic reflections in painting, exploring new visualities in contemporary dance-making. LUNA, co-created by Sita Ostheimer and seven CCDC female dancers, awakens the instinctual and intuitive body, weaving emotion and connection through finely tuned, powerful ensemble work.

Audience Feedbacks (Translated from Chinese originals)

N.N.N.N.

‘A humorous vignette performed by four men, blending elements of mime and martial arts. N.N.N. evokes the image of four dancers standing shoulder to shoulder, touching their heads. N.N.N.N. represents the presence of all four dancers together.’

LUNA

‘A declaration of individuality by seven women, beginning with two dancers embracing each other. The costumes, in both color and texture, carry an Asian sensibility. Yet their resilience and bonds, their tenderness and ferocity, are meant to be universal.’

The Fountain of Blood

‘Emotion and energy surge toward the audience, inviting you to feel their anger and struggle. The overall performance is striking, signaling CCDC’s successful step into a new generation.’

The Fountain of Blood

‘The dancers’ hand movements left a deep impression, resembling the forms of beasts. Accompanied by music dominated by human voices, the gradually intensifying sound effects built up a scene of ritual sacrifice.’

 N.N.N.N.

‘The choreographer chose to remove music, allowing the audience to clearly hear the dancers’ breathing. This gave their movements an added layer of humor. At the end, the dancers suddenly ran off together, and this abrupt rhythm provided a perfectly timed punchline to the humor.’

LUNA

‘Through repeated musical motifs and movements, dancers gaze at the audience, and dancers gaze at one another, forming an image of social pressure that reflects different facets of female identity.’
