built from expectations, routines, and the need to belong.
We follow what we’re shown,
fitting ourselves into what feels acceptable,
even when it doesn’t quite feel like us.

Somewhere inside,
a faint resistance remains—
not strong enough to break away,
but never fully at ease.

It lingers—
like a blunt edge pressing inward,
like a body slowly learning to hold itself back,
even as it longs to stretch and unfold.

No cries, no rupture—
just a constant, low discomfort
we carry through our days,
until it quietly becomes part of who we are.

The roots of millet, the breath of existence, lingering emotions, and a simple longing.

In the Bunun language, there is no direct equivalent for “goodbye.” The most profound blessing is “Mihumisang”—meaning “still breathing,” or “may you live well.”

This work is a life ritual about “preparation.” When the most significant farewell is absent from one’s life, we are left to spend the remainder of our days learning how to breathe anew. Through the weight of yearning, the soul’s cry for release, and the search for solace amidst falling petals, this piece seeks that belated sense of peace. This practice is not for forgetting, but so that after a farewell, one can utter “Mihumisang” to both the departed and to oneself. It is about transforming longing into a steady breath, preparing to carry on, peacefully and with love, in the next moment.

REHAS is a contemporary dance production that brings to the stage the lived experiences of prisoners inside a cell.

The title REHAS is derived from a Filipino word that means railing. Through dance movements inspired by pedestrian movement language, the work explores the reality behind jail railings—how daily life feels in confinement, how systems and relationships form inside, and how human rights issues intersect with interrogation.

Inspired by ongoing events in the Philippines, REHAS aims to raise awareness, amplify the voices of the unheard, and invite the audience to step into another person’s shoes in pursuit of truth and justice.

An independent life resides within a vessel of transparent glass, drifting in a dream-like state. It serves as a sanctuary—a buffer against the deluge of information, the unraveling of senses, and the turmoil of unmanageable emotions. One rests safely inside, until the line blurs: is this a tender cocoon, or a restrictive shackle?

In the intimacy of the duet, ‘seeing’ and ‘being seen’ are never direct encounters. Instead, they are mirror images, refracted through the unique filters of our own perception. We draw close, yet true contact remains elusive—leaving us only to gaze, with a cold, rational, and restrained detachment.

What is ‘reality’? What is ‘truth’? And what reality could be more profound than the one unfolding here, in this very moment?

Perhaps the answer remains forever undefined. Yet, this fleeting state and the energy coursing between us are worthy of being captured in movement.

We are drawn into ceaseless systems of order, information, and response, as if moving closer to the world could make our existence more certain. Yet in this constant approach, the body begins to grow numb. What once felt real no longer arrives directly; it is delayed, diluted, replaced, and left suspended somewhere out of reach. We are understood and misunderstood, seen and obscured, longing for connection while gradually losing our own boundaries within it. Perhaps the most unsettling thing is not loneliness, but the way we have learned to depend on external voices to prove that we are still alive. When every definition, gaze, and response falls away, does the remaining “I” still exist, or has it already been quietly rewritten by the world’s endless motion?
