Ballet Introductory

In this course, both the Russian and British ballet styles are introduced. Class will start with floor exercise — some stretching,floor barre to experience specific muscle we needed in our ballet training .Following up with some simple barre work simliar to our floor barre. And ended with a bit centre work to find the weight of the body. Class with conducted in a slow paste in order to explain details information.
Target: suitable for beginners students and one’s want details work.

Ballet Elementary

In this course, both the Russian and British ballet styles are introduced. The transfer of weight, proper alignment, simple jumps and turns are the main focuses of this course.
Target: suitable for beginners and students who are interested in ballet.

Chinese Dance Shen Yun Elementary

Selections of specially designed short combinations are introduced to help students to understand how movements are connected. Fluidity and expression of the body are also the focuses.
Target: Suitable for beginners or anyone interested in dance.

Contemporary Ballet Elementary

Contemporary dance is a style of dance that emerged in the 20th century as an outgrowth of modern dance and other 20th century dance techniques. Pure technique is mainly a barre work with a little centre work. This class is a mixture of classical ballet and contemporary techniques. That leads into sequences exploring dynamics such as weight, suspension and rebound.
Target: Suitable for students have basic in ballet or modern dance.

Contemporary Dance Elementary

An introductory course focuses on simple and basic Modern Dance technique, emphasizes a whole-body approach including flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness to allow freedom of expression. Suitable for beginners of Modern Dance.

Fit with Ballet Elementary

Using ballet’s traditional movement as an element in training in order to strengthen muscle, balance and improve body alignment.

Girls’ Hip Hop Elementary

Hip Hop was evolved from different kinds of dance. Body coordination and sense of rhythm are the focus of the lessons. A technique based on quickly contracting and relaxing the muscles following the beat of music. Girl’s Hip Hop is a combination of Hip Hop foundation and girly style dance. Soft and feminine move will be involved in this class, suitable for girl.
Target: suitable for all people

Hip Hop Introductory

Hip Hop was evolved from different kinds of dance. Body coordination and sense of rhythm are the focus of the lessons; e.g. Popping, a technique based on quickly contracting and relaxing the muscles following the beat of music. This causes a jerk in the dancer’s body, like the movement of robot; House, emphasises on flexible foot oriented steps through footwork training.
Target: suitable for all people

Hip Hop Jazz Elementary

This course includes the elements of Hip Hop and Jazz. By combining the free style of Jazz with the unique technique of Hip Hop, the exercises emphasised on body coordination and flexibility. Music with strong beats such as Hip Hop and Rap will be used. Choreography addressing the differences between male and female dancers is introduced so that students can find the presentation and style suit them most.

Jazz Elementary

Using ballet’s traditional movement as an element in training in order to strengthen muscle, balance and improve body alignment.

Yoga Introductory

Back to nature and simplicity. Exercises through breathing and stretching , balancing and controlling, try making the body and spirit working with harmony again, with removal of the senses letting oneself talk inward and peace the mind. This can release the daily-working pressure and muscle tension . This course is suitable for all parties to participate. Namaste!

– Students who are late for 10 minutes or more are not suggested to attend the class.

– Please wear active wear when attending class, safety parts are recommended.

Yoga Therapy Elementary

Yoga Therapy is a specific sequence of gentle asanas(yoga poses), combining with Pranayama(breathing exercises), that helps reducing tension & discomfort of neck, shoulders & back.
Through the practice, the muscle strength & flexibilty of the area are enhanced and balanced. It also promotes better mobility of joints. All these help to correct postures, and boosting chronic pain relief.
Yoga Therapy is a class for everyone, including beginners.

Instructors

Yan is now a freelance dancer, instructor and choreographer. She started her Hip Hop and Jazz dance training in 2000 and following graduation she had worked as a dance tutor in several famous Hong Kong academies for Arts, teaching Jazz Funk, Hip Hop and Urban Dance.

In the past decade, Yan taught in numbers of social services agencies, tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools and kindergartens. She is experienced in teaching and always try her best to fit students’ individual aptitude.

Yan and her team also active in commercial event production and performance in recent years. She enjoys challenge, and treasures any opportunities to work with different parties.

Freelance Dancer and Dance teacher

Monica is an experienced Yoga teacher.

Jo’s yoga journey can be traced back in 1999 when she was a dance student in The Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts.

Throughout the years of practicing yoga, Jo observed that yoga helped her not only physically as a dancer, but also mentally and emotionally in her daily life, especially when she dealing with stress.

She appreciates the strength and peacefulness that she experienced in yoga and wants to be able to share with others in depth.

In 2013, Jo went to northern India to deepen her understanding in yoga (including postures, cleansing, breathing, meditation and yoga philosophies) and got her Yoga Teacher Certificate from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta.

Jo believes that teaching yoga is not just guiding student into postures, it is a mutual growing process.

Born in Shanghai, Shirley Lok graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2009 majoring in Ballet.

During her studies she was awarded several scholarships. She has performed widely in Hong Kong and toured with various professional dance companies including The Hong Kong Ballet. In 2007 she joined CCDC’s youth dance ensemble WuDaoQinNian, when her interest in modern dance was sprouted.

She joined CCDC in 2010.

Macro is an experienced instructor who teaches various styles of dance including hip hop, popping, house, pop jazz. He has appeared in numerous shows and performances.

Graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Modern Dance)

Natalie graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, major in Chinese Dance. During her study, she was awarded The Spring Time Stage Productions Scholarship and twice-awarded Disney Scholarship.She was the representative of HKAPA to perform in Italy and Taiwan .

Natalie has been a full-time dancer with the City Contemporary Dance Company since 2014 to 2020.She has worked with a number of emerging choreographers and arts organisations and has performed in a wide range of dance performances in Hong Kong. Her new work “Wandering Stone” premiered at 2016 Dancers’ Homework by CCDC. In 2017 The Hong Kong Dance Award nominated her for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer” with her performance in “Travelogue”.

With experience of being a professional dancer in many years.Natalie understands the sensation of getting injuries.Luckily, she met yoga in 2018, she finds it is a new way to heal her body pain. Practicing yoga helps her to reconnect with herself bothmentally and physically, she determined to share and help those who also suffer in different injuries

Natalie is now actively involved in dance teaching and related work. She is also a 200 hours Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with Yoga Alliance and Certified Flyoga® Teacher. She is now studying 300YTT in yoga therapy.

Wong Po Lui Jasmin was born in Hong Kong, and graduated at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance. Independent choreographer and dance artist.Previously a dancer for Y-Space(Hong Kong). During her time on the BFA (Hons) programme, she was awarded a Grantham scholarship and also went on an Shanghai Exchange Tour funded by Hong Kong Foundation for arts and culture. She was selected to perform in various school productions including Savage SymphonyEchoing Woods by Christine Gouzelis and Here & beneath the surface of there by John Utans. Other outside performing experiences include CCDC’s WuDaoQingNian program; Sky of Nepal Arts Project by Bobbie Chen and Hero @ Eb Major by Ong Yong Lock for LCSD Community Cultural Ambassador and Unlock Dancing Plaza.She received a CCDC scholarship to participate in the Beijing Dance Festival in 2014 and 2015, 2017. Jasmin also has an interest in choreography and her work Among Them was presented in CCDC’s My Own Dance program and the series of Are you thinking what I am thinking? was presented in HKAPA and Eside’s Imagination boom 3.
