Dance Company Positions

City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) is a well-established performing arts company and one of Hong Kong’s leading cultural institutions. We seek candidates interested in a rewarding career in the arts for the following positions:

You will be required to lead the programming team to accomplish the company’s projects including artist liaison, budget control, local and outbound production management and reports. You will also work with the marketing team for publicity and business development.

 

  • University graduate with minimum 8 years of solid relevant experience in arts administration, programming, production and coordination;
  • Be a quick thinker, confident and well-organised, flexible, and have the ability to multitask and do what it takes to get the job done;
  • Good presentation skills, organisational and financial management, and interpersonal communications
  • Good copywriting and editing skills in both Chinese and English and fluent in English and Putonghua;
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Willing to work overseas and irregular hours;
  • Strong network in performing arts industry is an advantage.

You will be required to

  • Assist in programme co-ordination and logistics of the Company’s productions, including ticketing, customer services and related administration works
  • Handle copywriting, production, proofreading and editing of marketing collaterals, including press release, funding proposal, annual report and house programme
  • Organise previews, talks and other programme plus events and audience building activities
  • Liaise with venue personnel for the booking of performing and rehearsal venues
  • Handle enquiries and ad-hoc tasks as assigned
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered as Project Coordinator

 

Requirements:

  • University graduate with at least 3 years related working experience in arts administration and/or marketing
  • Good copywriting and editing skills in both Chinese and English; fluent in English and Putonghua
  • Be a quick thinker, confident and well-organised, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; willing to work in irregular hours
  • Hands on experience with websites, social media and tools of the trade like Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut Pro is distinct advantage
  • Immediate available is a plus

You will be required to

  • Support the team to implement marketing and development campaigns for the company.
  • Connect with the industry to maintain and explore opportunities of marketing collaboration.
  • Perform general administrative duties and provide support to the Marketing & Programme Department.
  • Communicate with internal and external teams including designers, editors, agencies and media.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or relevant disciplines, fresh graduate is welcomed.
  • Organised, attentive to details, and capable of multitasking.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and can-do spirit.
  • Keen interest in arts and culture, especially for performing arts and dance.
  • Solid knowledge in marketing including CRM, advertising and proposal writing.
  • Excellent in both written and spoken Chinese and English. Putonghua is a plus.
  • High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willing to work at irregular hours, including weekends, if needed.

Dance Centre Positions

The CCDC Dance Centre offers a wide range of professional dance courses and partnership programs. We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to join its  team. Assignments may be at various campus locations; days, evenings, and/or weekends. We’re seeking candidates for the following positions:

Dance Course / Children Dance Programme
  • plan & design dance courses;
  • executing teaching duties;
  • e.g. implement and maintain effective class management; co-ordinate with teachers, students and staff; take attendance, assess students, report duties monthly etc;
  • review and evaluation of the teaching process;

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Advanced Certificate or above in Dance
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience(fresh graduates with higher qualifications would also be considered)
  • Willing to work under pressure, mature & self-motivated
  • Dedicated in dance education
  • Effective communication skills and willing to cooperate with others.

Outreach Project

Assignments may be at various campus locations; days, evenings, and/or weekends.

The responsibilities of the instructor are to:

  • plan & design dance courses
  • execute teaching duties:
    e.g. implement and maintain effective class management; co-ordinate with teachers, students and staff; take attendance, assess students, report duties monthly etc;
  • review and evaluate the teaching process;
  • choreograph for schools, organize students and attend rehearsals, run through sessions and the meeting with designers for specific performance;
  • perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Advanced Certificate or above in Dance
    (with the major of modern dance will be more preferable)
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
    (fresh graduates with higher qualifications would also be considered)
  • Interested and experienced in choreography
  • Willing to work under pressure, mature & self-motivated
  • Dedicated in dance education
  • Effective communication skills and willing to cooperate with others

Project Coordinator (Artistic) reports to the Company Dramaturg and Artistic Director respectively.  He/she is responsible for the followings:

  • Attend regular meetings with the artistic team.
  • Attend and contribute to design and production meetings.
  • Taking inspiration and guidance from the artistic team.
  • Collaborate productively with all members of the production team.
  • Assist with providing research/analysis as requested by the dramaturg.
  • Assist the dramaturg during rehearsals.
  • In consultation with the dramaturg, provide information for the program, lobby display, public website, or any other supplemental audience materials.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Artistic Director

 

Entry requirement

  • Degree holder preferably in Cultural Management, Cultural Studies, Arts, Dance or related discipline;
  • 1-2 years’ working experience in art administration, event management or art and culture fields, fresh graduate will also be considered;
  • Ambitious, proactive, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and willing to work irregular hours;
  • A quick thinker, independent, well-organised, flexible, have the ability to multitask and with a can-do attitude;
  • Excellent command of both written & spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Mandarin.
