City Contemporary Dance Company Appoints New Executive Director

(21 July 2021, Hong Kong) City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) today announced the appointment of Cathy Lau as its new Executive Director. She will join the Company on 1 August 2021, succeeding Raymond Wong who has served the company with skill and dedication since 2014. As Executive Director, she will lead the Company’s corporate strategy, promotion, fundraising and operations, working alongside the management team in pursuing the Company’s vision and mission.

“I am delighted to welcome Cathy Lau as CCDC’s new Executive Director,” said Robert Lewington, Chairman of the CCDC Board of Directors. “She has more than 10 years of experience in arts administration, including serving as Executive Manager of the Hong Kong Dance Alliance. She has a passion for dance and education, nurturing Hong Kong’s artistic talent and promoting arts in the city. I look forward to the leadership and energy Cathy will bring to the role.”

Taking on the new role, Cathy Lau will work closely with Artistic Director Yuri Ng to deliver new dance choreography and promote digital projects to a wider audience. She will also support Kevin Wong, Director, CCDC Dance Centre to propel the development of the new Dance Centre. “It is great to have Cathy joining our team in such changing and challenging times. I look forward to working with her, taking CCDC to the next phase and bringing to Hong Kong and the world bold, exciting works,” said Yuri Ng.

About Cathy Lau

With a dual background in arts administration and programme curation, Cathy Lau has a strong experience in liaising with funders such as Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and Hong Kong Jockey Club. During her years at the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, she was an advocate for dance innovations and cultivation, encouraging creative dialogue among local dance groups and promoting artistic research. She also shepherded the organisation through significant growth in regular income and project funding.
