Transcription of the city through a clash of bodily aesthetics in boldly bizarre visuals and subtly witty narratives

In this double-bill performance featuring surreal visuals and gentle whispers of sentiments, the dance presents audiences with an impactful collision of aesthetics across generations. If timeline is being tugged at both ends, struggling in-between, how are we to respond to the present with the past, and to move forward into the future?

Travel of Soul Time AFTER Time

Breaking taboos: stirring souls with dance and ceremony

Delving deep into his signature theme—the traditional Canton funeral ritual “Hell-door-breaking”—emerging local choreographer Terry Tsang has created a distinctive stage aesthetic. The piece delivers striking visual impact while exploring themes of life and death and questioning the social status quo.

With imagery both intense and bizarre, bodily rituals traverse the world of the living and the dead, as though a religious rite is being performed on stage. But what is the object of worship: the city or the people? The past, present, or future? And who shall find salvation through the ceremony?

Echo in the Mirror

Connecting past memories with the present—weaving all odds, ordinaries and wonders

Resident Artist Noel Pong created a compelling new choreography with a lyrical pairing of dancers and moves inspired by ordinary life, linking and contrasting old and new generations while revealing absurdity in the everyday. The production is Noel’s farewell piece to the Company and the city, a work of deep passion, elegance and quotidian beauty where she ventures out of her comfort zone and looks back on her brilliant time in CCDC.

Discover where the artist’s heart belongs, while looking inward at yours as a viewer. Unconsciously, we may leave pieces of our lives scattered along the way in life’s journey. Take a pause, recollect and place them back in the present, wonders and surprises will await.
