Rediscovering Oneself

embrace, search, seek

Have you ever felt like your world has fallen apart?

A girl once told me, “I have”.

Two years ago, Alice broke up with her boyfriend, and she felt like her whole world had fallen apart.

It was a stable relationship, the two of them had never parted from each other.

They went to secondary school and university together, and even worked in the same company after graduation.

After the break-up,

Alice could hardly stay in the same company with the one whom she loved around.

She resigned, and with her big carton box, she left the company.

She didn’t know what she wanted, and didn’t know what to do. Losing her lover was like losing her whole meaning of life.

For two whole weeks, she cried, she felt depressed, and lost her temper. She just missed her ex.

She dreamt of the two of them back together, and then woke up in tears.

She went to the washroom to wash her face, and saw her own pair of swollen eyes.

At that moment, she felt heartbroken for this reflection in the mirror, and made up her mind to move on.

She joined the reunion gathering with her secondary schoolmates that she has not joined for a long time, and reconnected with many of her old friends.

She found her guitar under her bed, and started playing with it again.

She was overwhelmed with this mixed feeling of both familiar and strange.

This girl decided to spend more time on herself.

It is never easy to recover from a breakup, but even in pain,

One night when she went to a dance class with her classmate, and she was never a good dancer.

She looked at her own dancing reflection in the mirror,

She was smiling beautifully with all her heart.

She might not be a good dancer,

But Alice knew that she has rediscovered her real self through transformation.
